Nostalgia, an overdose of

Boy, today went by fast. And it's not even really over. I didn't have school today (obviously) but I do have my first day tomorrow. Eh. All it will be is orientation, but the English classes don't start for a few weeks. I'll really try hard to make some friends soon.

Tonight from 10:15-11:15 is my first hockey practice!! Yay!! I got a stick today, too. It's wood, blue and white and made by Sher-wood. I think the flex is like 40 and we had it cut to my size. It's pretty cool. I also got a street ball and I played around with them at this playground. I went around the neighborhood a bit looking for places to shoot on and whatnot but didn't really find a good place. It's raining. My dad still needs equipment. I can't wait for the practice! I haven't gone to an ice rink in a while. It'll be so fun.

It's almost impossible to not associate hockey with smell...s. We looked inside my bag for the missing helmet parts, but didn't find anything. Our noses did find a bunch of... erghy smells. Brought back so many memories. I've only had one hockey season, but that familiar whiff of sweat, leather, perhaps blood and maybe some barf mixed in there, greeted my nose and reminded me of Sloane telling jokes in the lockerroom, Doug dancing to Sydney's iPod, coach Kate's harsh words, how I would always be so worried before a practice and game, Charlotte barfing in the trash can and playing the game anyway, no one talking to me in the practice, learning cross-overs with Doug, the memories go on and on. Ah.

We also had dinner with our other friends last night. It was cool. The family was the dad who worked with CERN, the mom who had talked and helped my mom and their son Simon who's a senior. Man, it would SUCK to have to spend your senior year in high school in a different country. Geez. But he was cool. We played this surgery game on adultswim.com which was fun. And then had a very interesting discussion after dinner. I learned that McCain's running mate's daughter was pregnant and 17. We had a big discussion about that. It was cool I guess.

I'll write a lot about my first day of school tomorrow and the hockey practice I guess. I learned that Ms. Smith said stuff about me. Like how your last concert at Slauson will be sooner than you think or something. I feel honored. I so wish I was there. I think band is 8th hour this year. I so wish I was there. Again.

Hey, I found this cool thing on Sher-Wood's site where you can customize goalie equipment and stuff. Check it out if you want.

I don't know if one of my friends is reading my blog anymore. I read her old posts today, which was cool. It's amazing how someone/something can change so much.

GO BLUE!!!!!!
